It was going to happen on Fb 5th but now it's been rescheduled to Sunday Feb 19th!

I'm going to be trying some new songs that I've written and like always I have a great line up of musicians. That is what really drives my sound. I couldn't do it with out the players that inspire me.

We were recently in the studio where I had Grady Caplin play some pedal steel on some songs along with Chuck Bartels on Bass and Rob Avsharian on Drums. It sounds so cool that I thought that I have to do a gig with that line up. Also joining us is Nick Calcaterra on percussion. I'm excited to have him join the gig too. I have yet to hear his playing but everyone has told me that he is great. Hopefully, I'll have some video of the rehearsal to post.
Brett Lucastag:brettlucas.com,2005:Post/70746962022-10-04T23:06:54-04:002022-10-04T23:08:26-04:00Club 11 Monster Music Night!
I'm so excited to be playing along side such great musicians as Julian VanSlyke on drums, Chuck Bartels on Bass, Phil Hale on Keys, and James Hughes on Sax. Wednesday, Oct 5th, we are also featuring one of Bluegrass's finest musician, Dana Cupp Jr. He was the last banjo player for Bill Monroe's group The Bluegrass Boys. If you didn't know, Bill Monroe invented Bluegrass music, that's how serious this cat is! Dana's also played with Jimmy Martin and the Osborne Brothers. Stellar!

It was really cool that the award committee put together an online awards ceremony that included some really top notch international musicians announcing the awards. There were people such as Sting and Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers announcing. My album Soul and Courage won Outstanding Blues Recording and it was introduced by Emilio Castillo from the famous R&B Horn band Tower of Power! He apparently has Detroit roots too! It was a complete honor to receive this award. A big special thanks to Gary Graff and everyone else on the DMA committee for putting that all together! Also to Max Bauhof for producing and playing drums on the album. To Adam Cox for mixing it with us. And of course a big thanks to Chuck Bartels for playing bass and Evan Mercer for playing keys on the album!

Brett Lucastag:brettlucas.com,2005:Post/64672142020-10-31T00:40:54-04:002020-10-31T01:16:41-04:00Pandemic in Review
As with most musicians around the world, my career came to a grinding halt with the advance of the Corona virus. I had a ton of gigs and tours lined up for the spring and summer. One by one they were canceled. Like multiple little light bulbs flickering off until the whole room turned completely dark. It was time to focus on family and being safe. Getting food and making sure we had...toilet paper. Finding toilet paper was a major sense of pride for anyone in those days. I'm talking around the world too! I remember my wife being so lucky to be in Kroger when they brought a box out and she got a few rolls. Wow, we were going to make it!

Gigs did start to trickle in once the state limit on gatherings began to be lifted. At first, my every other gig at the London Chop House came back. Then solo acoustic and patio gigs started to be booked God bless them! Speaking of God's blessing, my church service at Impact crossed over to being filmed instead of in person, and it is still that way. Pastor Keenann Knox has been saving the day for me by employing me at his church. I cannot thank him enough.

Things leveled off with the type of gigs and I was thankful that I could sing and play guitar. Then crazy offers came in that I turned down. No, I'm not going to play your cabin up north with no care of Covid spreading lol!

It did become busy. I split the month up with 2 camping trips a month with my family in our old pop-up camper and the other weeks I lined up gigs.

What I realized from the pandemic is that I truly love playing electric guitar. I love playing music with my friends and having that connection with them. That was a big void for me during this pandemic. It wasn't the attention from an audience I was seeking, it was making music with other musicians. They are the inspiration for me. It's really like getting back to the beginning. Getting back to the garage and basement jams of my youth. It was truly the experience of playing as a band that was so exciting back then. It still is. I hope to see you soon!
Brett Lucastag:brettlucas.com,2005:Post/62931382020-04-24T10:35:10-04:002023-12-10T13:41:05-05:00Welcome
Hi everyone, thank you so much for visiting my new website!
